Recipe of the Week ~ Crockpot Pepper Steak













CROCKPOT PEPPER STEAK

2 lbs. sirloin, cut into 2 inch strips
Garlic powder
3 Tbsp. olive oil
1 cube beef bouillon
1/4 cup hot water
2 Tbsp. cornstarch

1/2 onion, chopped
2 large green bell peppers, coarsely chopped
1 (14.5 oz) can stewed tomatoes, undrained
3 Tbsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt

1. Sprinkle strips of sirloin with garlic powder to taste. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat oil and brown beef strips. Transfer to crockpot (with juices).
2. Mix bouillon cube with hot water until dissolved, then mix in 2 Tbsp cornstarch until dissolved. Pour into the crockpot with meat. Stir in onions, peppers, tomatoes, soy sauce, sugar, and salt.
3. Cover and cook on High for 3-4 hours or on Low for 6-8 hours.
4. Serve with rice or mashed potatoes.

*If gravy is not to desired thickness when cook time is up, put 1/2 cup of gravy in small bowl and dissolve 1 Tbsp. cornstarch. Add back to crockpot and cook for an additional 15-30 minutes.
